Skarżyński & Christiansen (2008) sunk Mitchellania into Ceratophysella because some species with intermediate characteristics do exist. Nevertheless, we are not sure that this decision is fully reasonable. The whole group appears to be rather natural, with common ranges and a number of unique characters not typical of other species of Ceratophysella . General distribution: Nearctic.
