A synopsis of the exindusiate species of Cyathea (Cyatheaceae-Polypodiopsida) with bipinnate-pinnatifid or more complex fronds, with a revision of the C. lasiosora complex Author Lehnert, Marcus text Phytotaxa 2016 2016-01-08 243 1 1 53 http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/phytotaxa.243.1.1 journal article 10.11646/phytotaxa.243.1.1 1179-3163 13682214 68. Cyathea zongoensis Lehnert (2003: 172) . Type:— BOLIVIA . La Paz: Prov. Murillo, Río Zongo Valley, 22.5 km below dam at Lago Zongo, 16°09’S , 68°07’W , 3000 m , 9 October 1982 , J.C. Solomon 8429 ( holotype UC-1493629!/- 1494518!, isotype MO-1858444!). Distribution and habitat: —Central Peru and Bolivia at 3000–3400 m in elfin forests and shrubby paramo. Remarks: Cyathea zongoensis was described as being trunkless but the Peruvian material includes plants with trunks to several meters tall. In this aspect, the species displays a similar plasticity as C. frigida and C. praetermissa Lehnert (2011a: 38) , which further resemble C. zongoensis in the frond dissection and texture.
