Body oblong; shining black with metallic purplish sheen; antennae, legs, and venter brownish-black. Head: coarsely punctate; produced anteriorly; with longitudinal carina in middle. Antenna: antennomere I thickest, rounded; II smaller; III longer than II; remainder subequal in length; apical 4 darker, slightly thicker than preceding; I–VII slightly rugose. Pronotum: subcylindrical; subquadrate; parallel-sided; convex; lateral margin slightly bisinuate, margined; anterior angle notched with minute tooth; surface coarsely rugose-punctate, deeply excavated on disc; pronotal width

Comparative notes.
This species is one of the two totally dark
Chaeridiona
. It can be distinguished from
C. picea
by the rounded exterior apical angle of the elytra and by having elytral costae 1 and 4 entire.
