Caatinga endemic species. It is recorded only in the state of Bahia. It shows restricted distribution in the Caatinga and occurs along one ecoregion (Table
1
; Appendix S3). Distributed in high elevation areas (1,085-1,091 m a.s.l.), with annual mean temperature 20°C, and average annual rainfall between 904 and 917 mm.
Ecological notes.
Terrestrial and nocturnal (
Cassimiro and Rodrigues 2009
;
Freitas et al. 2012
). It has been associated with rupestrian fields, found in rocky outcrop crevices, dominated by pioneer vegetation (
Cassimiro and Rodrigues 2009
; Silva
Junior
2010
). Diet based mainly on arthropods, no information about the preferred items on the diet of this species is known (
Cruz et al. 2018
). Oviparous, no detailed data is known about the number of eggs laid by the species, but it could be similar to other
Gymnodactylus
(
Vitt 1992
;
Souza-Oliveira et al. 2017
).
