Remarks:

, the species belongs to the
persimilis
subgroup (with a smooth egg shell) within the
Macrobiotus hufelandi
group. The
hufelandi
group requires careful taxonomic analysis, including egg morphology, to differentiate the individual species (see
Bertolani & Rebecchi 1993
; and e.g.
