Notes.
One of the diagnostic characters to separate
M. latifemoris
from other species of the
nigritarsis
group is the presence of conspicuous short black setae on the anterior face of the procoxa (
Radenkoviċ
et al.
2011
). Variation in the position (always on anterior face of the procoxa) and number of these black setae was observed (setae sometimes less obvious), as well as variation in the size of the apical tooth of the triangular process of the metafemur. Specimens of all four species of the
nigritarsis
group (
Radenkoviċ
et al.
2011
) deposited in NS were compared with our specimens, and these are unequivocally
M. latifemoris
. The
M. latifemoris
material from NS, which includes the
type
series, also displays the same variation in characters. Larva undescribed.
