Filaments wavy or straight, entangled, attenuated at the end, yellow-brown or dark green in color. Sheath initially thin, firm or diffluent, colorless, commonly multiple trichomes in a single sheath. Trichomes constricted at cross-walls, rarely false branched in old culture. Cells longer than wide, 2.7-5.2 μm long, 1.5-2.3 μm wide. Apical cells rounded and cylindrical. Hormogonia are separated by necridic cells.
Ecology.
This species was isolated on the stone surfaces of wells at a water treatment facility (
Song
et al.
, 2015
), and in this study from gravel submerged in freshwater.
