Remarks:
Quadraceps paludicola
is so far endemic to the
Galápagos Islands
, but
Creagrus furcatus
is not, as this gull also breeds on Malpelo Island (
Dickinson 2003: 149
), located about
500 km
west of the Colombian mainland. From the Kellogg Collection we examined the
holotype
of
Nirmus paludicola
. Also, we examined
five paratypes
of
Quadraceps ernstmayri
held in the
NHML
.
