Remarks.—The tribe was erected recently based on a five gene phylogenetic tree to based on a deep origin within the
Cicadettinae
for the genus
Nelcyndana
Distant, 1906
(
Marshall
et al
. 2018b
). The upper pygofer lobe is small and superimposed over the unornamented basal pygofer lobe and is unique to the
Nelcyndanini
along with the divided uncus that has migrated to the lateral extremities of abdominal segment 10 to appear that they are accessories to the claspers (
Marshall
et al
. 2018b
).
