Yanga pulverea
(
Distant, 1882
)
Platypleura pulverea
Distant 1882: 335
. (
Madagascar
)
Remarks.—With
Y. argyrea
rev. stat.
being removed as a subspecies, the nominotypical species is no longer to be listed as a subspecies. The hyaline hind wings distinguish this species from all other species of
Yanga
except
Y. argyea
rev. stat.
The larger body size, lack of silver-gray marking on the fore wing and the obliquely rounded lateral male opercula of
Y. pulverea
distinguish it from
Y. argyrea
rev. stat.
The body length is about
31–37 mm
and wingspan is about
94–105 mm
(
Distant 1882
).
Distribution.—The species is only known from
Madagascar
including Nosy Be (
Metcalf 1963a
;
Sanborn 2013
).
Material examined.—“
Madagascar
/ Tananarive // LeMoult” one male (AFSC).
