Chaetocnema rugiceps Baly, 1877: 308 (Madagascar), by subsequent designation by Bechyne (1954b : 683). Distribution. Central and Southern Africa, and Madagascar (Fig. 298). Ecology. Species of this genus live in moist habitats and are probably associated with plants of the family Cyperaceae (personal data). Notes. There are seven known species.
