Diversity.
About 650 species arrayed in two tribes:
Brachinini
(about 535 species) and
Crepidogastrini
(about 115 species, most from the Afrotropical Region, a few from the Oriental Region). The Northern Hemisphere is represented by about 230 species (roughly 35% of the world fauna) and North America by 48 species (roughly 7.3% of the world fauna).
