Orectochilus andamanicus
is a rare whirligig and belongs to a group of species (
O. spiniger
- group) which occur in shaded clearwater streams, mainly in forested areas of the lowlands. The beetles usually circle under fallen logs and in undercut riverbanks (Mazzoldi, in litt.).
