Current Status.
Valid species (
Borowiec 2002
).
Remarks.
Psalidoma holubi
was described based on a series of specimens from the collection of O. Nickerl (currently part of the NMP collection), and part of the series was retained by Spaeth. They were collected by E. Holub during his second expedition to
South Africa
. As
Spaeth (1899)
did not select
one specimen
as the type, all specimens are
syntypes
.
Borowiec (2002)
intended to designate a
lectotype
for this species, as he listed the
syntypes
as “
lectotype
and
6 paralectotypes
”, but did not provide an adequate statement of designation. Therefore, the requirements of Article 74.7.3 (
ICZN 1999
) were not met, and the specimens remain
syntypes
. However, we have examined the series and it is consistent; thus, there is no formal need for a
lectotype
designation.
