Only known from the island of Hispaniola, in valleys (Morne de la Selle, Haiti) at ca. 1600 m. The type and one other sheet from the Dominican Republic ( Zanoni & al. 33773 , not seen) are the only specimens of this species. Representative specimen. Haiti, Ekman H.3127 (S). Two sheets of Ekman H.1327 are in S, both annotated by Ekman. Of these, S04-2981 ( Fig. 5b ) is more complete, with both flowers and fruit, and is here selected as the lectotype.
