Prodorsal shield—

Relation to host
. The mites are vagrant on the undersurfaces of the leaves, no visible damage seen.
Etymology.
The specific designation is derived from the generic name of the
type
host plant.
Note.
This new species is similar to
Rhyncaphytoptus platani
Keifer, 1939
, but can be differentiated by the 6-rayed tarsal empodium, dorsal annuli with filamentous microtubercles, and seta

absent. The species is also close to
Rhyncaphytoptus papyriferae
Xue & Hong 2005
, but differs by its smooth coxal area and genital coverflap, 6-rayed tarsal empodium, and dorsal annuli with filamentous microtubercles.
