Remarks
.
Pachycheles crassus
resembles the western Atlantic
P. ackleianus
in having the carapace transversely elongate; the P1coarsely granular; the telson composed of five plates; and the pleon without pleopods in males. However, in
P. ackleianus
, the P1 are less swollen than in
P. crassus
and possess a distinct tubercle near the base of the pollex (absent in
P. crassus
); the granules of the P1 tend to form longitudinal rows instead of being evenly distributed as in
P. crassus
; and the P2–P4 meri are covered with scattered setae, whilst being mostly glabrous in
P. crassus
(
Haig 1960
)
