Colonies are irregular, erose, effuse, smooth, translucent, and cream-colored after 3-5 days of incubation at 30℃ on GYE agar. Positive for esculin hydrolysis. Utilizes D- glucose, N- acetylglucosamine, and malic acid. Negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, and arginine dihydrolase, urease, gelatinase, and β-galactosidase activities. Does not utilize L- arabinose, D- mannose, D- mannitol, D- maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid. Strain CAU 1654 ( = NIBR BAC000508834 ) was isolated from seawater and sand from Incheon , Korea ( 37°39′09.5″N 126°19′47.6″E ) .
