Cuba. Unspecified number of ♂ and ♀. Saussure & Humbert (1872) gave a more detailed redescription. Carl (1903) refers to “Originalexemplare” in his discussion of this species. The MHNG collection has two card-mounted specimens under the name Leptodesmus couloni . Both the ♂ and the ♀ specimens are badly damaged. They both have the data label “ Oxyurus Couloni Humb. et Sauss. , Cuba,” apparently in Humbert’s handwriting, and are syntypes. Hoffman (1999) refers to a ♂ holotype in the MHNG without justification. Amphelictogon couloni ( Humbert & Saussure, 1869 )
