Members of this genus are remarkable in having the tube very long with prominent lateral setae. The head is longer than wide, the maxillary stylets widely separated, and both sexes lack a fore tarsal tooth. There are 27 species listed in the genus (ThripsWiki 2020), all from the Asian tropics or from the wet tropical parts of
Australia
. Three of theses species are recorded from
Taiwan
, although as indicated below the record of
pasanii
is doubtful.
