Triocellate. General color light yellow patterned with pale brown. Head mostly pale yellow except for pale brown area covering ocelli; compound eyes and ocelli dark (

). Pronotum pale yellow with brown anterior and posterior bands on disc; meso- and metanota with dark W-shaped markings; wings hyaline, Rs of forewing branched, anal field of hindwing small and unfolded with two veins (
Fig. 8
); legs pale. Terga 1–9 with oval brownish middorsal patches forming a wide stripe in males and terga
3–8 in
females (
Figs. 9–10
). Cerci yellowish-brown with long brown setae.
Male.
(
Figs. 1–6, 8–9
). Forewing length 5.5–6.0 mm, hindwing length 4.5–5.0 mm. Posterior margin of tergum 9 slightly plump, dark and covered with fine hairs. Tergum 10 divided, median portion to base of epiproct forming a triangular sclerotized area (
Fig. 2
). Epiproct subtriangular in dorsal view and inflated in lateral view; anterolateral margin strongly sclerotized, forming an inverted V-shape in dorsal view; posterodorsal area membranous; apex triangular and sharp. (
Figs. 2–4
). Aedeagus elliptical and membranous, ventrolaterally with a pair of weak sclerotized stylus, each stylus slender and upcurved (

Etymology.
The specific epithet honors the teamwork of the survey organized by Clemson University and Nanjing Agricultural University in 1996. The term 'tuanjie' is the Chinese pinyin that means 'unity', commemorating Du and other collectors for collecting in
Sichuan Province
in 1996.
Diagnosis.
This species is characterized by the head with a pale brown area covering ocelli, pronotum with brown anterior and posterior bands, and terga 1–8 with a middorsal stripe. Terga 10 medially with a triangular sclerotized area. Epiproct subtriangular in dorsal view, plump in lateral view; anterolateral margin sclerotized and apex triangular and acute.

Remarks.
This new species appears similar to
H. martima
Zhiltzova & Levanidova, 1978
, known from the Far East. However, the epiproct of
H. martima
is a longer sclerotized lobe (see figs. 16 and
17 in
Zhiltzova & Levanidova 1978
). In addition, the subgenital plate of the female of
H. martima
is much broader than that of
H. tuanjiena
and
H. martima
lacks a brownish midorsal abdominal stripe (see fig.
18 in
Zhiltzova & Levanidova 1978
). Moreover,
H. tuanjiena
is also similar to
H. longicauda
Zwick, 1977
, while the epiproct of
H. longicauda
is more rounded than that in
H. tuanjiena
, and the aedeagal sclerites of
H. tuanjiena
are reduced (
Stark & Sivec 2008
,
Zwick 1977
).
