EXAMINED . Etymology: The specific name is a patronym in honor of Darrell Ubick, curatorial assistant at the California Academy of Sciences, great arachnologist and dear friend. Diagnosis: Males are distinguished from all other Agyneta species by the long hook-shaped lamella characteristica ( Fig. 185 ). Females are distinguished from most species by their abdominal patterns ( Fig. 190 ). From A. fillmorana see diagnosis of the latter and from A. bucklei by the oblique sides of the proximal part of scape ( Fig. 191 ), straignt in the latter ( Fig. 206 ). Description: Male : Total length 2.23; carapace length 0.93, width 0.79. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace orange-brown, shiny, finely reticulate; suffused with dark gray along radiating lines and pars cephalica. Clypeus height 3. Sternum completely suffused with dark gray. Chelicerae orange-brown, not excavated; seta-tipped tubercles absent; promargin three denticles, retromargin one small apical denticle. Cheliceral stridulatory organ visible ~14 striae, well spaced followed by 28 closely spaced striae. ABDOMEN: Coloration highly variable; uniformly dark gray or dark gray with some off-white specks or else with dark median band and dark lateral sides ( Fig. 189 ). LEGS: Light yellow-orange; leg I total length: 4.31; leg III total length: 2.87; Tm I: 0.30, Tm IV: absent. GENITALIA: Palpal retrolateral tibial apophysis small, triangular; dorsal tibial apophysis smooth; two retrolateral trichobothria and a dorsal one ( Fig. 185 ). Cymbium with retrolateral fold; glabrous depression present ( Fig. 185 ); dorsal and ventral cymbial tubercles reduced, slightly rugose; prolateral notch absent ( Fig. 186 ). Paracymbium with apical pocket only ( Fig. 185 ). Embolus tip pointed, with a few apical spines; Fickert’s gland absent; ventral lamella spiny apically, serrated basally; thumb going beyond the embolus proper ( Fig. 187 ). Embolus proper set apically, serrated, crest-like extending to the tip of embolus ( Fig. 187 ). Anterior terminal apophysis long and pointed with curved protrusions; posterior terminal apophysis short, with spines basally; lamella characteristica hook-shaped ( Fig. 188 ). Female : Total length 2.31; carapace length 1.06, width 0.81. MAP. 11. Localities of Agyneta darrelli n. sp. and of Agyneta miniata n. sp. CEPHALOTHORAX: Coloration same as male. Chelicerae orange-brown, promargin five denticles, retromargin three apical denticles. Cheliceral stridulatory organ visible ~14 striae, well spaced followed by ~37 striae closely spaced. ABDOMEN: Coloration highly variable; uniformly dark gray or with dark median band and dark sides or else dark gray apically and laterally ( Fig. 190 ). LEGS: Same as male; palpal tarsal claw absent; leg I total length: 4.40; leg III total length: 3.14; Tm I: 0.30, Tm IV: absent. GENITALIA: Epigynum with wide proximal part of scape with slightly oblique sides; epigynal slits oval; pit hook depression shallow ( Fig. 191 ); lateral lobes short and wide; stretcher and pit medium ( Fig. 192 ). Median part of scape elongated and narrow ( Fig. 193 ); genital pores located at base of lateral lobes pockets ( Fig. 194 ). Internal genitalia with rounded receptacula ventrally and a small triangular receptacula dorsally ( Figs 192, 193 ).
