Lotus maritimus
Linnaeus
,
Species Plantarum
2
: 773. 1753
.
"Habitat in Europae maritimis." RCN: 5684.
Lectotype
(
Dominguez
& Galiano in
Lagascalia
8: 197. 1979): Herb. Linn. No. 931.1 (
LINN
)
.
Current name:
Tetragonolobus maritimus
(L.) Roth
(
Fabaceae
:
Faboideae
).
Note:
Stearn (in
Biol. J. Linn. Soc.
5: 11. 1973), in an account of
Linnaeus'
Oeland
and Gotland journey of 1741, treated Grankulla in
Oeland
as the restricted type locality, and noted the existence of 931.1 (LINN). In his paper, he attributed restricted type localities irrespective of whether any material existed in LINN and, where specimens do exist, he does not refer to any of them as type specimens. The collection subsequently designated as the type shows no annotation associating it with
Oeland
.
