TYPE LOCALITY: “ Chiliae [ Chile ]” . TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂ , syntype (missing right antenna and right wing) ( MZUN : Box Asilidei A 05, 04): Philammosius ocrealis Rnd. , Chili [= Chile ] / M. Zool. N° 11013 . CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Stichopogon ocrealis ( Martin & Papavero 1970: 6 ) ; valid species, unplaced to genus of Asilidae ( Papavero 2009: 140 ) . REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 45) described Philammosius ocrealis from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material received from R.A. Philippi. Costa (1866: 35) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “779”. We also found one syntype in this study.
