CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Coenosia tigrina ( Fabricius, 1775 ) ( Pont 1986b: 213 , Gorodkov et al. 1995: 16 ). REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 207) described both sexes of Caricea felina without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Marem raro et foeminas minus raro legi [I collected the male rarely and less rarely females]”. We found just one male syntype in this study. The female syntypes are presumed lost.
