TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂ , syntypes (one covered with mold, partially eaten by dermestids, missing right fore-leg, the other covered with mold, right wing broken, missing fore-, hind-, and right mid-legs) ( MZUF : Box 13): Exorista Mgn / barbatula Rnd. . / 651. CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Paratryphera barbatula ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 176 , Pape et al. 1995: 19 , O’Hara et al . 2009: 86 , Cerretti 2010: 168 , O’Hara et al. 2020: 373 ). REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 145) described Exorista barbatula from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being two specimens in the type series found in this study: “ Mas tantum lectus [collected the male only]”. We consider the two specimens as syntypes .
