CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Gastrolepta anthracina ( Meigen, 1826 ) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 149 ) . REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 154) described Gastrolepta gentilis from just the male sex without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Semel … captus mas [the male collected once]”. We found one syntype in this study.
