REMARKS:
Rondani (1850b: 213)
described
Sphiximorpha petronillae
from just the female sex, without specifying the exact
number
of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being
two specimens
in the type series found in this study: “
Faemina tantum speciei a me tecta
[
sic
!] [=
lecta
]
fuit
[only the female of the species was collected by me]”.
Van
Steenis
et al
. (2016: 197)
designated a
lectotype
(
♀
) and
paralectotype
(
♀
) and mistakenly reported that Rondani ascribed this nominal species to the genus
Sphecomorpha
Bezzi, 1906
.
