CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Tephritis separata Rondani, 1871 ( Foote 1984: 133 , White 1986: 156 , Norrbom et al. 1999: 219 ). REMARKS: Rondani (1871b: 18) described both sexes of Tephritis sejuncta without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens that he had collected and that he had also received from L. Bellardi , F.M. Piccioli and A. Costa . Bernard Merz examined the MZUF type material in 1992, adding the label “ lectotype ” under one female , without, as far as we know, publishing any lectotype designation. We found 13 syntypes in this study .
