REMARKS:
Rondani (1863: 91)
described
Pachyrhyna capensis
from just the female sex, giving a range of lengths, from material received from M. Spinola. We found
two syntypes
in this study. This nominal species was described under the generic name
Pachyrhyna
,
which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of
Pachyrhina
Macquart, 1834
” (
O’Hara
et al.
2011: 137
).
Costa
(1866: 40)
listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “948”.
