Palaeococcus fuscipennis ( Fig. 16 ) has been recorded from Algeria ; it lives on the trunk, branches and crowns of trees in the families Fagaceae ( Quercus ) , Pinaceae (particularly Pinus species ) and Sapindaceae ( Acer ) ( Mendel et al. 1998 ). While it can occasionally cause heavy fouling with honeydew and sooty mould in Israel ( Mendel et al . 1991 ), it has not been recorded causing significant economic damage.
