Family diagnosis (adult female).
Podospermal monogynaspid
Mesostigmata
with a holodorsal shield. Sternal shield with a maximum of three pairs of setae; metasternal setae inserted on soft skin or on separate metasternal plates; epigynal shield with one pair of setae or none. Anal shield with one pair of para-anal setae and a post-anal seta, occasionally surrounded by sclerotised skin that mimics a ventri-anal shield. Tibia I with four or five dorsal setae; tibia I and genu I with one anterolateral seta (1 3/2 2/1 2 or 1 2/1 2/1 1).
