Ecology:— Fairly common; epiphytic, terrestrial, and saxicolous in humid forests, probably prefers limestone and sandstone outcrops; 850–3050 m . Notes:— The Andean populations attributed by us to this species may not be conspecific with those from southeastern Brazil , the source of the type . Jonas (2011) did not find any consistent molecular or morphological traits (besides rhizome scale length) to separate this species from A. achalense .
