Etymology.
The specific name is a Latin adjective meaning “tawny”, referring to the color of the palp.
Diagnosis.
This new species is similar to
J. jinxini
, but can be distinguished by: 1) the short embolus (
vs
longer embolus); 2) the expanded and thumb-shaped pRTA (
vs
truncated); 3) the different color of whole palp fulvous.
Description.
Male (
Holotype
). Total body length 5.89: carapace 2.97 long, 2.32 wide; abdomen 2.92 long, 1.72 wide. Carapace nearly circular, deep red-brown, with radial granulated integument; eye area relatively wide; fovea deep and round. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.15, ALE 0.15, PME 0.10, PLE 0.14; AME–AME 0.10, AME–ALE 0.06, PME–PME 0.14, PME–PLE 0.15, ALE–PLE 0.10; MOA 0.36 long, anterior width equal to poste-rior width (0.36). Clypeal height 0.23. Leg spination: femur I with 2 strong pl spines, other femora spineless; femur I with 2 strong pl spines, other femora spineless; tibia I with 8 pv and 7 rv spines, tibia II with 6 pv and 8 rv spines, tibia III with 2 pl and 1 rv spines, tibia IV absent; metatarsus I with 5 pl and 4 rl spines, metatarsus II with 3 pl and 4 rl spines, metatarsus III with 1 pl spines, metatarsus IV absent. Leg I 7.85 (2.16+0.90+2.13+1.81+0.85), Leg II 7.07 (1.98+0.87+1.76+1.50+0.96), Leg III 6.20 (1.73+0.81+1.29+1.42+0.95), Leg IV absent. Leg formula: 4123. Other characters as for
J. aspera
sp. n.
, except for coloration.
Abdomen oval and gray, with small distinct dorsal scutum (occupying less than half the length of the abdomen), two pairs of muscular impressions centrally.
Palp as illustrated (
Fig. 5
A–C). Tibia short, yellowish-brown, RTA with two processes, dRTA rounded distally and strongly sclerotized, pRTA expanded and sclerotized. Tegulum same color as tibia, reniform, with distinct sperm duct and short thin tegular apophysis. Embolus short (not exceeding tip of TA), strongly coiled, tip alongside tegular apophysis. Conductor membranous, behind embolus.
