Genus
Parisotoma
Bagnall, 1940
The genus is common in both hemispheres, except for the tropical zone (
Potapov
et al
. 2011
). Species from the Southern Hemisphere differ by the absence of ms-chaetae on Abd.II and anterior position of s4-chaetae (if present) on Abd.IV (
Potapov
et al
. 2011
). Taxonomy of the genus
Parisotoma
was developed by
Fjellberg (1977)
,
Deharveng (1981)
,
Rusek (1984)
, and
Potapov (1991)
. It is the most diverse genus of
Isotomidae
for
South Africa
with several species under description. Here we provide the descriptions of two new species with a reduced set of s-chaetae on the body.
