Paratype
(

Description
. Rostrum triangular (
Fig. 10
a), 3–4 times carapace length. Carapace subrectangular, covered with scale-like tubercles; antennal spine short, not reaching base of antennular peduncle; anterolateral spine robust but short, barely projecting (
Fig. 10
a); gastric region with 2 spines and 2 minor pairs near to margin of region (
Fig. 10
a); dorsal surface flat, no prominent regions; cervical groove shallow; posterior margin unarmed (
Fig. 10
b). Second to fifth abdominal somites with acute, short median spine; pleura unarmed (
Fig. 10
b). Cheliped short, covered by tubercles, without spines; palm longer than wide; fixed finger almost as long as palm; dactyl unarmed (
Fig. 10
c). Walking legs short, almost one and one quarter carapace length (
Fig 10
d). Telson divided in ten plates (
Fig 10
e).
Remarks.
We compared the
paratype
in the MNHNS from Santiago with
M. villosa
from the collection of the Marine Biology Department of the
Panama
University (Catalog number 670), and no differences between both specimens were observed.
As was noted by
Baba (2005)
the figure in
Retamal (1981)
is not
M. villosa chilensis
, because of the absence of epigastric and other dorsal spines, and the presence of dorsal marginal spines on the merus of P2–4. No specimens of this species were found in the collections of the MZUC. The figure in
Retamal (1981)
was probably drawn from the plate of Bahamonde’s paper. No other records of material are known apart from the original descriptions.
