Fairchild , flight trap , (1, NSMC ) . Catops simplex was reported by Peck and Cook (2002) from Labrador, insular Newfoundland, New Brunswick , and Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia . The above records newly establish its presence on the mainland of Nova Scotia ( Fig. 11 ). It is frequently collected at carrion in deciduous or mixed forests; also in litter, at bear dung, in mammal nests, in rotten mushrooms, and on dead snails. It was found in coniferous forests and Sphagnum bogs ( Peck and Cook 2002 ).
