Short periostracal strands, denser on the mid- and posterior regions. Type locality ‘‘Iyo’’ ( Western Seto Island off Ehime Prefecture , Shikoku, Japan ) Distribution South and East China Seas and Japan . Eastern Hong Kong . Sandy mud bottoms in sheltered waters from 10– 30 m . Intertidal on rocks, within mussel beds, on pilings ( Huang and Lin 1993 ; Scott 2003 ). Submarine caves, on empty oyster shells.
