Ornatoraphidia
is markedly differentiated by morphological characters of adults and larvae. Based upon molecular phylogeny the sister taxon is
Turcoraphidia
. The genus comprises two species, which show very different patterns of distribution. Both species are known from Mediterranean islands.
Biology and ecology.
Larvae living in upper layers of soil around roots of bushes. Development two years, see under
O. flavilabris
. Last hibernation stage: pupa or full-grown larva. Adults: IV-VI.
Distribution.
Balkan Peninsula, Apennine Peninsula, southern parts of Central Europe.
