Nephrotoma concava
Yang & Yang, 1990: 478
(original description).
Redescription. Hypopygium relatively small, tergite ninth and sternite ninth almost separated (
Fig. 17
). Tergite ninth rounded in lateral corners, posterior margin terminating into a pair of angular plates, upper margin of plate densely covered with black teeth, ventral middle of plate with a row of black teeth (
Figs 18–19
). Sternite ninth truncated in lateral view, split in lateral surface, posterior margin of sternite ninth deeply concaved medially in ventral view (
Fig. 20
). Sternite eighth with a finger-shaped median process on posterior margin. Outer gonostylus broad medially, narrow at both ends, acute at apex (
Figs 17, 20
). Inner gonostylus medially with a narrow ridge, apical beak elongated and curved, acute at tip, ventral margin of which having many long setae; basal beak obtuse; posterolateral part ear-shaped, extending to basal beak and forming a round process; dorsal crest relatively narrow (
Figs 21–22
). Aedeagal guide acute at apex, gonapophyses round, its ventral appendage relatively straight (
Fig. 17
). Semen pump with ejaculatory apodeme fan-shaped, shallowly concaved medially (
Fig. 23
). Posterior immovable apodeme short, acute apically, between them with a small medial apodeme (
Figs 24–25
). Anterior immovable apodeme elongated and massive, truncated apically (
Figs 24–25
). Aedeagus very long, more than 11 times longer than semen pump, extended to fifth abdominal segment, and then returned to abdominal segment ninth (
Fig. 17
).

Distribution.
China
(
Gansu
).
Remarks. The species is closely related to
N. cornicina
(Linnaeus, 1758)
, which is widely distributed in Neartic, Palaearctic and Oriental Regions. It is different from the latter by the posterior extension without finger-shaped process on lateral corner (such process present in
N. cornicina
), the outer gonostylus with ventral margin slightly protruded medially (strongly protruded medially, forming an angular process in
N. cornicina
), the inner gonostylus with dorsal crest relatively narrow (broad in
N. cornicina
), and the median process of sternite eighth relatively smaller.
