Remarks
. The single male specimen of
Ogyrides hayi
from Ceará agrees well with the diagnosis of this species in
Williams (1981)
, except for the second pereiopod carpus having five joints (vs. four in Williams’ material; cf.
Fig. 14
H). The specimen also possesses one small spiniform seta on the distolateral margin of the antepenultimate article of the third maxilliped (
Fig. 14
F), just like
O. alphaerostris
(see above). This character may have been overlooked by both
Hay & Shore (1918)
and
Williams (1981
,
1984
). In addition, the telson bears two pairs of minute spiniform setae on its distolateral angles, which were not illustrated by
Williams (1984: fig. 75c)
(see
Fig. 14
E).
The present material confirms the occurrence of
O. hayi
on the coast of Ceará. The previous record of
O. hayi
from Ceará by
Bezerra & Franklin Júnior (2006)
was uncertain for the species was listed in a table, without voucher specimens deposited in the collections (P.P.G. Pachelle, pers. obs.).
