Nebria pallipes Say, 1823
Nebria pallipes
Say, 1823a: 78. Type locality: "Monterey [Berkshire County], Mass[achusetts]" (neotype label). Neotype (♂), designated by Lindroth and Freitag (1969: 333), in MCZ [# 33082].
Distribution.
This species is found east of the Mississippi River from Nova Scotia (Lindroth 1961a: 77) to north-central Illinois (Kavanaugh 1978: 800), south to northern Alabama (
Loeding
1945: 12), northeastern Georgia (Leng 1910: 73; Fattig 1949: 12), and east-central South Carolina (Ciegler 2000: 20) along the Appalachian Mountains. The record from east-central Missouri (Summers 1873: 133) needs confirmation; that from Colorado (Elias 1987: 632) is likely based on a mislabeled specimen; that from northern Wisconsin along Lake Superior (Wickham 1896c: 131) probably refers to
Nebria lacustris
.
