Remarks
.
Ethusina rowdeni
was previously known only by the male
holotype
from the southern Kermadec Ridge (whakatane Seamount,
Bay of Plenty
;
1292–1336 m
). The present specimens extend the known bathymetric range and the geographic range westwards to southeastern
Australia
. The Australian specimen (NMV
J72625
) is the largest recorded of the species. The gonopods of the juvenile male (NIwA 31725) are incompletely developed; both are elongated but gonopod 2 is as yet separate from, rather than enclosed by gonopod 1.
Distribution
. Northern
New Zealand
from seamounts in the
Bay of Plenty
, westwards to the Challenger Plateau; for the first time from eastern
Australia
;
914–1336 m
.
