Nai-Hpyeng, July 1906 , R . P. Faurie 221 ( LE L-7526!, isolectotype BM 001107771 [digital photograph!]). The species was described from the northern part of the Korean peninsula. In his description Hue mentioned similarity of Aspicilia adamanticola to A. cinerea . According to his view the former is characterized by a whitish, not truly areolate thallus and absence of the lateral cortex. The studied specimen contains norstictic acid and has spores and conidia which agree well with Aspicilia cinerea . The size of spores is (17.0) 17.7–[18.1]–18.4 (20.0) × (10.5) 11.3–[11.6]–11.9 (13.0) μm (n=10) and conidia are (16.0) 17.6–[18.1]–18.5 (21.0) μm (n=10). These data as well as overall morphology ( Fig. 1A ), thickness of hymenium (100 μm) and moniliform paraphyses makes us conclude that Aspicilia adamanticola is conspecific with A. cinerea .
