A Neotropical species, all of whose known parasitic stages have been found on Didelphimorphia : Didelphidae , and Rodentia : Cricetidae and Heteromyidae ; females alone have been collected from Rodentia : Muridae ; immature stages have been recovered from Rodentia : Dasyproctidae , Echimyidae and Sciuridae . There are no records of Ixodes venezuelensis causing human parasitism.
