Generic and family transfers, and numina dubia for orb-weaving spiders (Araneae, Araneidae) in the Australasian, Oriental and Pacific regions Author W. Holotype of Epeira sub-flavida Urquhart, 1893: female, Tasmania [no exact locality, AUSTRALIA] (whereabouts unknown). Remarks. The holotype female of Epeira sub-flavida seems to be lost. The original description suggests a large orb-weaving spider, possibly with affinities to Eriophora biapicata or Backobourkia heroine . Taking the diversity of these large spiders in south-eastern Australia into account, it is unlikely that this species can be identified by the original description alone, and therefore I consider the species-group name Epeira sub-flavida a nomen dubium.
