Holotype of
Epeira sub-flavida
Urquhart, 1893: female, Tasmania [no exact locality, AUSTRALIA] (whereabouts unknown).
Remarks.
The holotype female of
Epeira sub-flavida
seems to be lost. The original description suggests a large orb-weaving spider, possibly with affinities to
Eriophora biapicata
or
Backobourkia heroine
. Taking the diversity of these large spiders in south-eastern Australia into account, it is unlikely that this species can be identified by the original description alone, and therefore I consider the species-group name
Epeira sub-flavida
a nomen dubium.
