Notiphilides maximiliani
(Humbert & Saussure)
. Female holotype (NHMW 184): A, anterior part of body, ventral; B, same, latero-dorsal; C, terminal part of body, ventral; D, same, dorsal. Scale bars: 1.5 (A, C–D), 2.5 (B). Photos by Dr. Nesrine Akkari.
Diagnosis.
Notiphilides maximiliani
differs from other species of
Notiphilides
by the following combination of characteristics: body with 87̄105 leg-bearing segments in females and 85̄
89 in
males; tergites without sulcus (
Fig. 1
B, D), posterior paratergites divided (
Fig. 1
D), intermediate tergite of the postpedal segment with homogenous color (
Fig. 1
D), and ultimate legs without tubercle in tarsus (
Attems 1929
;
Chamberlin 1950
;
Crabill 1960
; Brölemann 1905).
