Notiphilides maximiliani differs from other species of Notiphilides by the following combination of characteristics: body with 87̄105 leg-bearing segments in females and 85̄ 89 in males; tergites without sulcus ( Fig. 1 B, D), posterior paratergites divided ( Fig. 1 D), intermediate tergite of the postpedal segment with homogenous color ( Fig. 1 D), and ultimate legs without tubercle in tarsus ( Attems 1929 ; Chamberlin 1950 ; Crabill 1960 ; Brölemann 1905).
