Body shiny, yellowish-red, elytra reddish-brown, antennae yellowish-red with the two basal antennomeres yellow, legs yellow. Second antennomere longer than the first, third shorter than the second, fourth to tenth strongly transverse. Eyes longer than the postocular region in dorsal view. Reticulation of the head very superficial, that of pronotum and abdomen abseent, that of the elytra evident. Puncturation of the head indistinct. Granulation of pronotum and elytra fine and very superficial. First to third free abdominal tergites covered with squamous sculpture, the fourth and fifth with sparse Puncturation. C o m p a r a t i v e n o t e s: In its habitus and structure of the spermatheca this new species is similar to M. kinabaluensis PACE, 2008 also from Borneo, but the head and elytra of the new species are brown (yellowish-red in M. kinabaluensis ), the spermatheca has an oval distal bulb (spherical in M. kinabaluensis ), and the proximal portion of the spermatheca is curved and not rectilinear as in M. kinabaluensis .
