Etymology.
This species is named for Frank D. Parker, an avid and productive collector of therevids.
Diagnosis.
Stenogephyra parkeri
spec. nov.
is similar to
S. dianeae
spec. nov.
and
S. minuta
in possessing two pairs of notopleural macrosetae, in lacking dorsocentral macrosetae, in having the katepisternum completely covered with silver pubescence, and in having vein M
2
reaching the hind margin of the wing. It differs from
S. dianeae
spec. nov.
in having the silver pubescence along eye margin not greatly expanded at level of antennal base and not reaching height of frontal ocellus (
Fig.
10
); halters dark brown; and the male gonocoxite lacking a posteroventral projection in lateral view (as in Fig.
24
). It differs from
S. minuta
in having the head glossy with a narrow band of silver pubescence along margin of eyes (
Fig.
10
) which broadens ventrally below level of eyes.
