Kantipuria
Gorbunov & Arita 1999:120
.
Type
species:
Kantipuria lyu
Gorbunov & Arita 1999
, original designation.
Kantipuria
was previously known to occur only in
Nepal
, we report it from
Taiwan
for the first time. The genus
Kantipuria
is closely related to
Synanthedon
according to Gorbunov & Arita (1999). It differs from the latter chiefly by having additional brown scalings along termen of hindwing, sclerotized vein CuP of hindwing, and simple crista sacculi. Although many diagnostic characters were mentioned in Gorbunov & Arita (1999) when they established the genus
Kantipuria
, many of them were proposed to distinguish from genera currently considered as synonyms of
Synanthedon
(
sensu
Špatenka
et al
. 1999
;
Pühringer & Kallies 2014
), thus inadequate to serve as diagnostic characters distinct from
Synanthedon
under current usage. Further study is required to clarify whether
Kantipuria
should represent a separate genus or should be regarded as a synonym of
Synanthedon
.
